Women Interested in Engineering Day invites future engineers to UNL

Lincoln, Neb., October 5th, 2011 —

            Oct. 22 is a day for high school students to explore the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's engineering programs. UNL College of Engineering faculty and students will leads hands-on experiences including renewable energy projects, computer programming and bio-engineering activities.

            This annual event is open to all high school students who are curious about studying engineering, and the event especially encourages female students to pursue careers in engineering. Guided tours of research labs will be available, and a panel presentation will discuss opportunities among the range of majors at the college, featuring Nebraska Engineering students and alumnae who will share stories of their studies and career paths.

            WIIE Day begins with continental breakfast and check-in at 9 a.m. at Othmer Hall, followed by tours and information sessions. After lunch, the program runs through 2:45 p.m. with speakers and hands-on activities.
