UNL hosts 57th annual Federal and State Tax Institute

Lincoln, Neb., October 6th, 2011 —

            The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will again partner with the Internal Revenue Service and the Nebraska Department of Revenue to bring training to tax preparers and professionals at seven locations across Nebraska in November and December through the UNL Tax Institute.

            The institute provides quality education and continuing education credits and certification for tax professionals, affecting the economical environment of the state of Nebraska by making educational opportunities for tax professionals accessible throughout the state.

            In its 57th year, the UNL Federal and State Tax Institute provides certified professional accountants, enrolled agents, attorneys, certified financial planners, public accountants, tax preparers, paralegals, bookkeepers; banking-industry, insurance and real-estate professionals the opportunity to remain current on tax rules and regulations while earning continuing education credits including two hours of ethics credit.

            Each year, approximately 1,000 tax practitioners attending UNL's Nebraska Income Tax Institute learn about current and comprehensive tax rules and regulations from trusted presenters and outstanding resource materials. 

            Income tax issues and topics are presented by expert tax instructors. Janice Mumm, a certified public accountant, is known for her dynamic synergy and ability to convert technical materials into easily understood concepts. Frank Gaines, an enrolled agent, whose wide range of experience and unique approach makes even the most problematical tax matters clear and comfortable. Enrolled agent Gary Bredensteiners employs a candid approach that is perfect for presenting complex tax topics and updates. Presentations on special federal income tax updates and new tax preparers regulations are given by IRS speakers. The Nebraska Department of Revenue provides updates on Nebraska income tax rules.

                  The UNL Tax Institute will be held in the following cities: Lincoln, Nov. 1-2 and Dec. 5-6; Scottsbluff, Nov. 7-8; North Platte, Nov. 10-11; Kearney, Nov. 14-15; Grand Island, Nov. 17-18; Norfolk, Nov. 21-22; and Omaha, Nov. 28-29. Programming and tax instruction begin at 8 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. each day.

                  The early registration fee is $255. After Oct. 14, the registration fee is $275. This fee includes all course materials and institute presentations.
