Tet Festival Celebration Jan. 27 at Sheldon Museum of Art

Lincoln, Neb., January 23rd, 2012 —

            The Asian Community and Cultural Center of Lincoln and Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invite the public to a Tet Festival Celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the Sheldon, 12th and R streets.

            The event includes traditional crafts, dance, food, games and music. The Linh Quang Temple Lion Dance Troupe and Karen Children's Dance Group are among the featured performers for the evening. Dau Nguyen, president of the Vietnamese Community of Lincoln, will speak on the significance of the celebration and its traditions. The documentary film, "The Journey of Vaan Nguyen," will be screened at 6:30 p.m. in Sheldon's Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium.

            Free shuttle transportation is available between the Asian Community and Cultural Center, 2635 O St., Suite A, and Sheldon from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

            Sheldon Museum of Art houses a permanent collection of more than 12,000 objects focusing on American art. Sheldon is open free to the public during regular hours: Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. The museum is closed Mondays.
