Pacific Regional ice hockey tourney is Feb. 17-18 at Fremont

            The University of Nebraska-Lincoln men's hockey team will host and compete in the Pacific Regional Tournament Feb. 17 and 18 at the Sidner Ice Arena, 1558 E. Military Ave. in Fremont.

            Eight club teams will be compete to win the remaining two spots for their region in the National Tournament. All games during the weekend tournament are included with the purchase of a weekend pass. The pass is $20 for adults, and $10 for college students with a valid student ID or youths under age 18. Admission for children under 8 is free with paid adult admission.

            The tournament schedule:

            Friday, Feb. 17 -- 9 a.m., No. 6 seed California State-Northridge vs. No. 7 seed Iowa; noon, No. 5 seed Colorado vs. No. 8 seed Santa Rosa Junior College; 3 p.m., No. 3 seed Iowa State vs. No. 10 seed Northern Arizona; 6 p.m., No. 4 seed Nebraska vs. No. 9 seed South Dakota.

            Saturday Feb. 18 -- noon and 3 p.m., pairings to be determined.

            UNL men's hockey is a member of the UNL Sport Club Council and a recognized student organization that was most recently formed in 1994. Its home ice has been Sidner Ice Arena since 2006. The team competes in Division 3 of the American Collegiate Hockey Association. The two top teams at this weekend's regional tournament will earn the third- and fourth-ranked spots in the region. They will join top-ranked College of the Canyons and second-ranked Colorado State at the ACHA Men’s Division 3 National Tournament March 14-17 in New Jersey.
