The ASUN student government at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will again in 2012-13 offer a cab service that can provide UNL students with a ride home when they are in an unsafe situation and have exhausted all other methods of transportation.
The program resumes Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. and will run continuously from 9 p.m.-4 a.m. nightly. The name of the service, 475-RIDE, designates the number to call.
ASUN (the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska) is working with Happy Cab this year. There are five cab brands under the Happy Cab company and will be designated by a checkered flag. The program approves only cabs with these flags, so users will not be able to use the service if they get in another cab.
"We encourage students to exercise caution and to be safe, but the cab service is there if it is needed," said Eric Kamler, ASUN president.
