College of Business Administration honors top students

            More than 330 University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business Administration students were honored at the 2013 CBA Honors Ceremony on April 14. They received various awards for academic achievement, including the William Gold Scholarship Key, the Clifford Hicks Honor Key, the LeRossignol Scholar and the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key.

            The William Gold Scholarship Key were first awarded in 1925 by William Gold, founder of Gold & Co. These Key are awarded to outstanding students having the highest academic standing throughout their freshman year. Ten students received this honor.

            The Clifford Hicks Honor Key are named for Clifford M. Hicks, who served on the College of Business Administration faculty for 43 years and was chairman of the Department of Business Organization and Management from 1950 until his retirement in 1968. The Hicks Key have been awarded since 1971 to outstanding students having the highest academic standing throughout their sophomore year. Twenty-two sophomores received this honor.

            The LeRossignol Scholar honor James E. LeRossignol, the first dean of the College of Business Administration, from 1913 to 1941. The LeRossignol Awards have been presented since 1988 to students having the highest academic standing throughout their junior year. Forty-five juniors received the LeRossignol Scholar Award.

            Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities and encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice. The Alpha Delta Chapter at UNL was formed in May 1924 and has had more than 2,000 members since its inception. The Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key was granted to eight students graduating in May with the highest grade-point averages in the college.
