Three students in the University of Nebraska College of Law have been awarded scholarships. They are Martin Demoret of Scottsbluff, Katherine Doering of St. Louis and Danielle Schunk of Omaha.
Demoret is the 2013 recipient of the George Hope Brown Scholarship Fund. A third-year law student, Demoret received his bachelor's degree in psychology in 2007 from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The George Hope Brown Scholarship Fund was established to commemorate the life of George Hope Brown, a lifelong resident of Banner County. Brown was a farmer/rancher and served as a school board director of the Banner County School District. He also served as a member of the board of directors of numerous organizations.
Doering was awarded the 2013-14 John M. Gradwohl-Nebraska Council of School Attorneys Scholarship. She is a second-year law student and taught high school in Columbia, Mo., before beginning law school. She earned a bachelor's degree in anthropology and a master of education in secondary science currriculum and instruction from the University of Missouri. The scholarship was established by the Nebraska Council of School Attorneys to recognize College of Law Professor John Gradwohl for his contributions to the organization and improvement of the practice of school law in Nebraska.
Schunk was awarded the 2013-14 Harold I. Mosher Scholarship. A third-year student, Schunk was a winner of the Grether Moot Court Competition in 2012 and the Law College client counseling competition in 2013. She has served as a student member of the Law College faculty/student curriculum committee and as a law student ambassador. She earned bachelor's degrees in secondary education and speech communications from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The scholarship was established by friends of Harold I. Mosher to recognize Mosher, a 1962 graduate of the College of Law, on the occasion of his retirement after 31 years with the office of the Nebraska attorney general and for his contributions to the state of Nebraska and the practice of law.
