UNL engineering students to make industry tour in Omaha

In collaboration with the Greater Omaha Area Chamber of Commerce, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Engineering will offer an opportunity Oct. 10 for first-year engineering students to delve into careers and opportunities for engineers during a day-long industry tour in Omaha.
Between 500 and 600 UNL College of Engineering students from the Lincoln and Omaha campuses will arrive at TD Ameritrade Park at 8:30 a.m. The students will be broken up into 30 smaller groups of about 20 students each and will tour the following companies or areas: Union Pacific Harriman Dispatch Center, ConAgra Campus, NRG, Omaha World-Herald Freedom Center, Metropolitan Utilities District Riverfront Plant, Gallup IT, Holland Center, Leahy Mall, Capitol District Project and ConAgra Foods.
Following lunch at noon at CenturyLink Omaha, students will attend a company expo or meet with young engineers. At 1:30, they will begin mini track tours at the MUD Florence Water Treatment Plant, North Omaha Power Plant, UNMC Cancer Center project, UNMC Biomedical, CLAAS, Conductix, Valmont Industries, Lozier, Henry Doorly Zoo, UNO arena project, Acieta or Cabela's Data Center, finishing at 3.
This is the third such tour, following previous trips to Grand Island and Columbus.
