Lied Center announces free 'Silver Screenings' film series

            As an ongoing celebration of its 25th anniversary season, the Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will host a free film series, "Silver Screenings," designed to reflect some of the performances taking place on the Lied Center stage this season.

            The series will kick off at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 with "The Diavolo Project," as an extension of a live stage performance by the internationally renowned dance company on Feb. 3. Following each screening, the Lied Center invites community members to enjoy free desserts and refreshments provided by the Lied Center.

            The Silver Screenings schedule:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 28, 7 p.m., Nebraska Union Ballroom, 14th and R streets -- "The Diavolo Project," in advance of Diavolo's Feb. 3 Lied performance; the evening will feature a special performance by Dancing Beyond Limits.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 25, 7 p.m., Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center, 313 N. 13th St. -- "The Red Violin," in advance of Joshua Bell's March 13 Lied performance.
  • Thursday, March 5, 7 p.m., Ross Media Arts Center -- "Finding Neverland," in advance of the March 23 Lied performance of "Peter and the Starcatcher."
