Brace yourself as Diavolo pushes the boundaries of dance with explosive choreography and colossal set pieces in a 7:30 p.m. Feb. 3 performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Lied Center for Performing Arts.

Tickets, starting at $28 for adults, are available at http://www.liedcenter.org, at the Lied Center Box Office, 301 N. 12th St., or by phone at 402-472-4747. UNL students can obtain tickets at 50 percent off with a valid NCard.

Diavolo redefines dance through a dynamic and powerful repertoire which uses its unique architectural creations as the focal point where the dancers unite to confront, challenge and manipulate their environment. Diavolo challenges and illuminates our emotions of fear, chaos, order, trust, love, community, adaption, alienation and salvation. The work of Diavolo is best defined as "Architecture in Motion."

Diavolo works under the artistic direction of Jacques Heim, who has been a transformative choreographer for more than 20 years. He founded Diavolo in 1992 and has directed the company's work since then. Heim was born and raised in Paris and his earliest experiences with performance came from street performing. In addition to his work with Diavolo, Heim has worked extensively for other companies in dance, theater and TV. For Cirque du Soleil, Heim choreographed KA at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. On television, his work has appeared on BBC America's "Dancing with the Stars" and Bravo's "Step Up and Dance."

The Lied Center will also present a free screening of "The Diavolo Project," a documentary film which follows eight teaching artists from Nebraska who participated in a dance intensive with Heim. The screening is 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Nebraska Union Ballroom, 14th and R streets. The film is part of the Lied Center's new Silver Screenings series, designed to reflect some of the performances taking place on the Lied Center stage this season. For reservations to attend a Lied Silver Screening, contact Becky Boesen by email or at 402-472-3215.
