Olson, Schneider crowned Homecoming king, queen

Seniors Tommy Olson of Julesburg, Colorado, and Maggie Schneider of Aurora were crowned king and queen at UNL's Homecoming celebration. Olson and Schneider, who were elected in a vote of the UNL student body on Sept. 24, were crowned on the field at Memorial Stadium at halftime of the Sept. 26 Nebraska-Southern Miss football game.

Olson is a finance major with a minor in economics in the College of Business Administration, where he carries a 3.63 grade-point average. He is a winner of the George Beadle, David Distinguished, and Earnest and Lillian Campbell Foundation scholarships. Olson is a member of the John O. Mosely Leadership School. On campus, he is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska and the Information and Technology Services Committee. He is the son of Tom Olson Jr. and the late Stacie Olson.

Schneider is an accounting major with a minor in economics in the College of Business Administration and carries a 3.736 grade-point average. She is the winner of Chancellor's Leadership, David Distinguished, and Accounting and Financial Women's Alliance scholarships. She is a Mortar Board member, Franco's List nominee and Gamma Phi Beta's Outstanding Junior Member. On campus, Schneider is a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, the College of Business Administration Student Advisory Board and the Nebraska Human Resources Institute. Off campus, she is a volunteer coach with Girls on the Run. She is the daughter of Jason and Sheila Schneider.
