Lincoln, Neb., October 6th, 2015 —

Nebraska youth from 10 to 19 will have their work showcased in the 22nd annual Celebration of Youth: Work by 4-H Youth, beginning Oct. 12 and running through Nov. 14 at the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery, 234 Home Economics Building.

Items were selected from the thousands of exhibits in the 4-H Clothing, Home Environment, Quilt Quest and Fashion Show divisions at the 2015 Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island. They range from stunning pieced quilts to garments constructed of unexpected materials to one-of-a-kind sculptural art forms.

On Nov. 14, the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design will host an afternoon of workshops for the exhibiting youth and their parents, culminating in a public program for the exhibition's closing, beginning at 3 p.m. in Room 11 of the Home Economics building on East Campus.

Each of the exhibitors will present an "elevator talk" about his or her project, and the Friends of the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery will present monetary awards to each student maker. The Hillestad Gallery will be open to the public that Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jurors for this year's edition of Celebration of Youth included Professor Michael James, TMFD chair, and alumni Sarah Trausch Hoops of Hastings and Megan Berry of Kearney.
