Lincoln, Neb., December 2nd, 2015 —

Community members and supporters of the arts are invited to attend the Friends of Lied's 13th biennial "Fire and Ice" Gala at 6 p.m. Jan. 30, 2016, at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 301 N. 12th St. The event will include dinner, live music, dancing, and an auction and raffle for a cause -- giving all Nebraskans access to world-class performing arts. Tickets are available at http://www.liedcenter.org/event/FOLGALA.

The event will take place throughout the Lied Center including the proscenium main stage, where guests will enjoy a gourmet three-course dinner catered by Hap Abraham Catering, cocktails by Meier's Cork 'n Bottle, and dancing and live entertainment by Musivo Live from Kansas City. Black tie is optional.

The Friends of Lied is a group of volunteers who support the Lied Center in all capacities from on-stage programming, free tickets for underserved children and adults, and educational outreach. They hold the gala every other winter.

The event centers on fundraising efforts for the Lied Center and includes a silent auction and raffle of donated items. This year the raffle features an all-inclusive, week-long stay at a spa resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico; a weekend getaway in Colorado; and fine jewelry from Borsheims. Raffle tickets are on sale for $10 and can be purchased from Friends of Lied board members or at the event.

For the first time, the Friends of Lied will accept reservations online. Tickets can be purchased individually or as part of a table package.

The silent auction -- featuring performance and event tickets, autographed Husker memorabilia, electronics and more -- will be facilitated online via smartphone or iPad using Qtego auction technology. The Friends of Lied will have volunteers on site to assist with the auction process. Those unable to attend the gala are also invited to bid on auction items online.
