Lied's Silver Screenings Film Series returns with 'Finding Fela' Feb. 18

The Lied Center for Performing Arts' Silver Screenings Film Series returns Feb. 18 with a showing of the documentary "Finding Fela."

The film series is free, open to the public and designed to complement some of the world-class performances taking place on the Lied Center stage as part of the 2015-16 season.

The Silver Screenings schedule is:

  • "Finding Fela," Feb. 18, 7 p.m., Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center, 313 N. 13th St. -- Co-presented with the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center, this film looks at the life and music of Nigerian singer and activist Fela Kuti in advance of "Fela! The Broadway Musical in Concert" on April 8.
  • "Tonight Show Memories," March 29, 7 p.m., Johnny Carson Theater, 12th and R streets -- This film revisits 30 years of highlights from "The Tonight Show" starring Johnny Carson before Doc Severinsen's performance with the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra on April 16.
