Tax Help Offered for International Scholars
Tax preparation assistance will be available for international students and scholars (non-resident taxpayers) on Tuesdays from March 3 to April 14. The sessions are 1 to 7 p.m. in the International Affairs Office, 420 University Terrace, basement level. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site is sponsored by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.
Assistance is provided on a walk-in basis. Interested non-residents should bring all tax documents including but not limited to W-2s, 1042-Ss, any state tax refund notice, copy of 2008 federal and state tax returns (if applicable). Other necessary items include passports, I-94 and other immigration documentation. Tax forms will be available.

Dublin Philharmonic Brings 'Irish Spectacular' to Lied Center
In its first United States tour, the renowned Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra will make its debut at the Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. The orchestra will present an evening of Irish and Celtic traditional music titled "Irish Spectacular," featuring Ireland's leading pop stars, Gerry O'Connor, Emer Mayock, Frankie Gavin, Cora Venus Lunny, Robert Harris and Regina Nathan.
Tickets for this performance are $48, $43 and $38. UNL students with a valid ID, as well as youths age 18 and younger, may purchase tickets for half price. Call the Lied Ticket Office at (402) 472-4747 or (800) 432-3231 for ticket availability. Regular ticket office hours are 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. Tickets may also be purchased online at the Lied Center website.
UNL Students Selected for News21 Carnegie-Knight Fellowship
Three students in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications are participating in News21, a national journalism fellowship sponsored by the Carnegie and Knight foundations.
The students are Ford Clark of Adams, Courtnee Lowe of Lincoln and Astrid Munn of Scottsbluff. They join 90 students from 11 other universities who are enrolled in seminars this spring to prepare for a 10-week national reporting project in the summer. The goal of the fellowship is to produce in-depth news coverage on critical issues facing the nation and then experiment with innovative digital methods to distribute the news on multiple platforms. more....
