UNL Dining Halls to Begin Trayless Dining

In an effort to reduce food waste, improve environmental impact and bring down costs, University of Nebraska-Lincoln dining halls will convert to a trayless system today.

The decision to eliminate trays in the five campus dining halls was made official after UNL's student Residence Hall Association voted 30-6 March 8 to support a resolution endorsing the move. more...

Illegal Immigration is E.N. Thompson Forum Topic

Today's E. N. Thompson Forum lecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is also the second annual Charles and Linda Wilson Dialogue on Domestic Issues. The discussion, "Illegal Immigrants: Path to Citizenship?" will be at 7 p.m. at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 301 N. 12th St.

Michael Olivas, William B. Bates distinguished chair of law at the University of Houston, and Vernon Briggs, professor emeritus in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., will discuss the issue of a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. more...

 

Naomi Shihab Nye
Poet and Essayist Nye Will Give Free Public Reading

As part of her two-week residency at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Palestinian-American poet and essayist Naomi Shihab Nye give a free public reading at 7:30 p.m. at the Great Plains Art Museum, 1155 Q St.

While on campus, she will teach a graduate workshop for poets and nonfiction writers. During her stay in Nebraska, Nye will also connect with members of Lincoln's immigrant and refugee community and meet with a diverse group of students and teachers in Lincoln Public Schools. more...
