UNL Chancellor to Direct University Update Address to Alumni, Friends
A special update on happenings, successes and challenges at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will be the focus for an address for Husker Spiritfest by Chancellor Harvey Perlman. It will be at 10 a.m. April 17 at Kimball Recital Hall on UNL City Campus, 11th and R streets (extended).
Perlman's address will highlight the progress toward development of Innovation Campus, report on his recent trip to India and the continuing connections with other international partners like Xian Jiaotong University in China, outline new efforts to recruit and retain students, update on external reviews of life sciences and the Durham School, and highlight new construction happening on campus such as the Gaughan Multicultural Center, the physics building, and the new residence hall. more...

Sen. Nelson Gives Lecture on Civic Engagement
U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) will deliver a free public lecture at 3 p.m. April 17 in the Nebraska Union Auditorium, 1400 R St., on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus.
The talk, "Civic Engagement and Public Participation: Democracy's April Showers and May Flowers," caps the Nebraska Public Policy Center's 10th anniversary celebration and is part of the Nebraska Alumni Association's Spiritfest weekend.

Environmental Resource Center Holds Red, White, And Green Event
As a kickoff to the Environmental Resource Center's Focus The Nation events taking place next week, the group is holding a Red, White and GREEN stadium recycling event after the Red-White spring football game on Saturday, April 18.

Symposium on Judeo-Latin Literature and Culture at UNL April 19-20
The Harris Center for Judaic Studies and the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will present "Returning to Babel: Jewish Latin American Experiences and Representations" April 19-20 at UNL. All symposium events are free and open to the public, and will be held in the Nebraska Union, 1400 R St.
The question of Jewish presence in the history, cultures and societies of Latin America -- and the concern with the exclusiveness and marginality of the Jewish communities of Latin America -- is being reevaluated by scholars worldwide. more...

Husker Spiritfest/Alumni Weekend is This Weekend
Alumni and friends of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln can attend the inaugural Husker Spiritfest/Alumni Weekend April 16-19. The weekend is intended for all to celebrate and discover the many facets of the university.
Activities range from cultural performances to athletic contests, and from special "insider" tours to open houses and exhibits. A highlight for many will be the annual Red-White spring football game, 1 p.m. April 18 at Memorial Stadium. Quilt Museum Celebrates 1st Anniversary and Green Award
The International Quilt Study Center and Museum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln received its first anniversary gift in the form of the official awarding of the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Silver rating for its environmentally sustainable building.
The museum, 1523 N. 33rd St. on UNL's East Campus, will offer free admission 1-4:30 p.m. April 19 to celebrate and will unveil the LEED plaque at a brief ceremony at 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend the event which will include cake and children's activities. more...

'Ain't Misbehavin'' at Lied Features 'Idol' Winner Studdard
In its 30th anniversary year, "Ain't Misbehavin'," starring "American Idol's" Ruben Studdard and Frenchie Davis, will make its debut at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Lied Center for Performing Arts at 2 and 7:30 p.m. April 18. The outrageous comic and musical soul of 1930s Harlem lives on in this revue that is still considered one of Broadway's best.
Tickets for this performance are $55, $50 and $45 and may be purchased online at their website. UNL students with a valid ID, as well as youths age 18 and younger, may purchase tickets for half price. Call the Lied Ticket Office at (402) 472-4747 or (800) 432-3231 for ticket availability. UNL Psychology Department Hosts 57th Symposium on Motivation
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Psychology will host its 57th annual Symposium on Motivation April 16-17 in the Wick Alumni Center, 1520 R St. This year's symposium will address "Ethnicity and Youth Health Disparities."
Traditionally, the UNL symposium is widely attended; it is the world's longest continuously running psychology series, and it attracts many of the field's most distinguished scholars. more...
University Theatre Presents The London Cuckolds

University Theatre closes out its 2008-2009 season at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with the restoration comedy The London Cuckolds. The production, adapted by Terry Johnson from the play by Edward Ravenscroft and directed by Gil Lazier will have performances April 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Howell Theatre, first floor of the Temple Building at 12th and R Streets.
Tickets are $16, $14 faculty/staff and senior citizens, and $10 students with ID. Tickets are available from the Lied Center Ticket Office, 301 N. 12 Monday through Friday 11 AM to 5:30 PM and one hour prior to the performance in the Temple Theatres Lobby, or by telephone at 472-4747 or 800-432-3231.
