'A Lantern in Her Hand' Featured at Olson Seminar

Bess Streeter Aldrich's novel, "A Lantern in Her Hand," the 2009 selection for One Book, One Nebraska, will be the focus of the first Paul A. Olson Seminar in Great Plains Studies of the 2009-10 academic year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Melissa Homestead, Susan J. Rosowski associate professor of English at UNL, will discuss the novel and its regional and national impact Sept. 23 in a seminar titled "Plains Regional Fiction and the National Literary Market: The Case of Bess Streeter Aldrich's 'A Lantern in Her Hand.'" Fiesta On The Green at Union Plaza Today
The Office of Academic Support and Intercultural Services at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is pleased to announce our seventh annual Fiesta on the Green today from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Nebraska Union Plaza (rain site: Nebraska Union Ballroom) as part of the National Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration.
This year we will be entertained and educated by Grupo Folklorico Sangre Azteca, Lincoln’s premier Mexican Folkloric Dance group, Kusi Taki performing Andean Music and Sabor, a Latin Rhythms Band. Our event will begin with the reading of the National Hispanic Heritage Month proclamation by Angel Freytez, Commissioner for the Mexican American Commission. We will also have three food vendors, Taqueria El Rey, El Rancho and Jerusalem Bakery and the store vendor, Bodhi Imports. Please join us by marking this observance with song, dance and music. This event is free and open to the public.

Husker Homecoming Events for Students, Alumni, Fans Planned Sept. 21-26
Concerts, a parade, decorations, tailgating, a blood drive, pep rally, coronation -- all are part of the annual homecoming celebration week activities planned at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Sept. 21-26. Students, Husker fans, alumni and guests and visitors are welcome to "Come on Home" to any of the campus activities, most of which are free and open to the public.
