Chinese Courses at UNL's Confucius Institute
Enrollment Now Open for Chinese Courses With UNL's Confucius Institute

Enrollment is now open for non-credit conversational Chinese courses from the Confucius Institute. Courses offered include Chinese Language, Culture and Music. Classes start January 19th. Sign up on the Undergraduate Online and Distance Education website.

 

International Education Week
International Education Week Noted at UNL

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will celebrate International Education Week with a variety of activities focusing on international education on campus through Nov. 19.

An initiative of the U.S. departments of State and Education, International Education Week was first held in 2000, and today is celebrated in more than 100 countries. It promotes the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide by promoting international understanding and building support for international educational exchange through programs that prepare students to live and work in a global environment and to attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States. International education, according to the federal government, is a vital service industry contributing more than $15.5 billion to the U.S. economy. more...

Research Development Fellows Program
Research Fellows Program Seeks Applicants

The Office of Research and Economic Development seeks applicants for the competitive Research Development Fellows Program, an initiative to help pre-tenure, tenure-track UNL faculty successfully compete for grants. Twelve fellows will be selected to participate in the yearlong program, which begins Jan. 25. The application deadline is Nov. 20. A complete program description, preliminary calendar of events and an online application form are available at the Office of Research website.

The program, now entering its second year, provides practical information and experience pre-tenure, tenure track faculty need to successfully compete for grants. The program's three main elements are mentoring, learning and consultation. Each participant teams with a senior faculty member with success in securing external funding who acts as a mentor. Formal and informal learning sessions enable fellows to plan and write effective grant proposals, build budgets and understand the proposal review process. more...
