College of Business Administration Holds Public Forum

The search committee for the position of Dean of the College of Business Administration has selected candidates for on-campus interviews and planned the series of presentations at which the university community and the public are welcome. Today, an open forum will be held with Donde Plowman from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. at the Great Plains Art Museum, 1155 Q St.
Plowman is Ralph and Janet Heath Professor in Business and head of the Department of Management at University of Tennessee. She previously was adjunct professor of public health at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, a professor of management (1988-2007) at University of Texas at San Antonio, as well as associate dean for graduate programs and research and director of the Ph.D. program at the College of Business (2000-03). She earlier was a visiting assistant professor at UT-Austin. Her Ph.D. is in strategic management from University of Texas at Austin, her M.Ed. in higher education administration from University of North Texas, and her bachelor's in English from Southern Methodist University.

School of Natural Resources Hosts Namibia Photo Exhibit
"Beneath the Sand," a photo exhibit highlighting the people, wildlife and natural environment of Namibia, is on display in the second-floor lobby of Hardin Hall through Friday, January 29.
The photos were taken by Larkin Powell, professor of wildlife ecology at UNL's School of Natural Resources, his wife, Kelly, and son, Tristan. Powell spent 2009 on sabbatical as a Fulbright Scholar at Polytechnic of Namibia in Windhoek. Powell's research trips during the year were funded by UNL's Research Council, The Grassland Foundation, and the World Wildlife Fund. Powell also blogged about his experiences.

The search committee for the position of Dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications has selected candidates for on-campus interviews and planned the series of presentations at which the university community and the public are welcome. Today, an open forum will be held with Gary Kebbel from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in 15 Andersen Hall.
Kebbel is journalism program director for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation where he directs the $25 million Knight News Challenge, which funds digital news innovations. He has been director of AOL News, was founding editor of USAToday.com and Newsweek.com after previously directing AOL's online election and government guides. He was a graphics editor at USAToday and managing editor for The Record in Troy, N.Y.; managing editor and assistant managing editor of the Post-Star in Glens Falls, N.Y.; and city editor of the Ithaca (N.Y.) Journal. He has been adjunct instructor at Philip Merrill College of Journalism, College Park, Md.; Northern Illinois University; and Adirondack Community College. He has a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University, master's degrees in journalism and political science from University of Illinois, and an MSW from the Catholic University of America.

Second Performance by Second City added at Lied Center
An additional performance by Second City has been scheduled Jan. 28 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Lied Center for Performing Arts. The comedy-improv group, boasting a list of alumni that rank among comedy's finest, was already scheduled to bring its "50th Anniversary: Best of Second City" show to the Lied Center, 301 N. 12th St., Jan. 29. That show is nearly sold out and the Jan. 28 performance was added to meet the high demand. Each performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for this performance are $29 and $19. UNL students and those from other participating colleges with a valid ID, and youths age 18 and younger, may purchase tickets for half price. Call the Lied Ticket Office at (402) 472-4747 or (800) 432-3231 for availability. Regular ticket office hours are 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. Desktop Conferencing Vendor Demos Continue
Four desktop conferencing vendors will be presenting on the UNL campus beginning today, Jan 26. Come and participate in the vendor selection process to find a common desktop conferencing tool.
The current schedule features Wimba, today from 1 - 2:30pm; Adobe, Feb 3, 1 - 2:30pm, and Microsoft, Feb 4, 1 - 2:30pm. Participants may also join the sessions electronically. Antichrist, Broken Embraces Play at the Ross

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Antichrist and Broken Embraces. Broken Embraces will screen through January 28, while Antichrist will show through February 4.
