Student Money Management Center Hosts Events
The Student Money Management Center will be holding their first workshop, titled "Cutting Food Expenses," at 12:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Union, Room 237. The presentation will last 15 minutes. Participants will learn practical tips for saving up to $35.00 a week on food expenses. Students are encouraged to bring their lunches to the SMMC.
The Center is co-sponsoring an interactive financial skill-building event with Delta Sigma Theta sorority titled "Life Ain't No Game" on Tuesday, April 13th at 6 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. Free food from Chipotle will be served. A "Financial Quiz Show" will also be held on Tuesday, April 13th at 7 p.m. in the City Union. General financial knowledge questions will be asked, as well as questions about other topics relevant to college students. There is no charge to participate. The winning team will receive a $250 Visa gift card. This event is sponsored by the University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union. Teams can register at the Student Money Mangement Center website.
Medieval and Renaissance Studies Presents Printmaking Lecture
The Medieval and Renaissance Studies Program in association with the Department of Art History welcome Suzanne Karr Schmidt from the Art Institute of Chicago on Monday April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Richards Hall Room 14. She will present her lecture titled "Interactive Printmaking in the Renaissance."
Suzanne Karr Schmidt is the Andrew W. Mellon Curatorial Fellow in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute of Chicago. She earned her B.A. in art history and in visual art at Brown University in 2001 and her Ph.D in the history of art at Yale University in 2006, and has also worked at art museums up and down the east coast from Harvard and Yale to the National Gallery of Art.
Weeklong Gaughan Dedication Events Highlight New Multicultural Center
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will celebrate diversity, students and family April 12-16 at a week of dedication events surrounding the new Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center.
Most events will be at or near the new center, 1505 S St., on UNL's City Campus. Events include entertainment, music, dancing, poetry reading, karaoke and an international festival -- all culminating with the formal dedication event 5 p.m. April 16. more...
Final 2009-10 AIA Lecture is on Greek Bronze Age
The Lincoln-Omaha Society of the Archaeological Institute of America announces the sixth and final lecture on archaeology for the 2009-2010 season. Professor Kim Shelton, from the University of California-Berkeley, will be speaking on one of the premier excavations of the ancient Greek Bronze Age: Mycenae. Her talk will take place in Room 15 of Richards Hall at 7:30 p.m.
Dr. Shelton is the Director of the Nemea Center for Classical Archaeology at the University of California-Berkeley. She has an active research program in two important archaeological sites in Greece: Mycenae and Nemea. In 2005, she was appointed Director of the University of California-Berkeley's excavations at the Sanctuary of Zeus at Nemea.
Fish Tank, A Prophet Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Fish Tank and A Prophet. Fish Tank will screen through April 15, while A Prophet will show through April 22.

The university continues to closely monitor the worldwide and local impact of H1N1 flu.
