'Fountain Frolics' Summer Concert Series Starts Thursday
The Fountain Frolics summer concert series at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will start this week on the Nebraska Union Plaza, 15th and S streets. This week, Jumpin Kate and the Naked Reserves perform blues, rock, R&B, and reggae covers, as well as originals.
The concert is the first in a series that will be held from noon to 1 p.m. every Thursday (except July 1) through July 29. UNL's University Program Council sponsors local musical entertainment and sells a picnic lunch of a hot dog, chips and a Pepsi product for $4 under the north overhang of the Nebraska Union.
Quilt Museum Offers Free Admission to Active Military, Families This Summer
The International Quilt Study Center and Museum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has announced the launch of Blue Star Museums. It is a partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and more than 600 museums across America to offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families between Memorial Day, May 31, and Labor Day, Sept. 6.
More than 600 museums in all 50 states and the District of Columbia are taking part in the initiative. The free admission program is available to active duty military and their immediate family members (military ID holder and five immediate family members), which includes active duty Reserve and active duty National Guard. UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents What's The Matter With Kansas? and Hey, Hey It's Esther Blueberger. Both films will screen through June 3.
