3 Students Selected For UNL ABC News on Campus Summer Bureau
Carson Stokebrand, Morgan Demmel and Wade Hilligoss have been selected to staff the University of Nebraska-Lincoln ABC News on Campus summer bureau. Stokebrand, named bureau chief, is pursuing his master's degree in journalism and mass communications with a specialization in broadcasting at UNL. Demmel is a junior broadcasting and news-editorial major and Hilligoss is a junior broadcasting major.
The ABC News on Campus program is a partnership between the ABC television network's news division and five leading journalism schools -- UNL, Arizona State University, Syracuse University, University of Florida, and University of Texas at Austin. more...
Academic Planning Committee Budget Hearing is June 25
The APC hearing on proposed budget reductions will be held on June 25 in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center on City Campus. The task of the APC is to review the Chancellor's proposed cuts in light of their probable impact on the university's academic mission and approve them or suggest other ways of meeting the budget reduction goal. To accomplish this task, the APC welcomes information from all who may be affected by the proposed reductions.

Expert to Speak Sunday, June 27 on South Asian Textiles

The International Quilt Study Center and Museum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will host a public lecture, "Ralli: Traditional Quilts of Pakistan and India" by Patricia Stoddard, at 2 p.m. June 27. The lecture is free with museum admission. Stoddard is guest curator of the current exhibition "South Asian Seams: Quilts from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh."
An author and former assistant professor at Brigham Young University, Stoddard has taught, researched and done humanitarian work in Asia, Africa and Central and South America. She lived in Pakistan in the late 1990s. Since that time, she focused her research on the study and documentation of the ralli quilts of Pakistan and India. more...
UNL Depth-Reporting Students Studying in Bolivia
With the goal of training a new generation of journalists capable of reshaping the news industry, 10 students and two faculty members from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications head to Bolivia on a 10-day depth-reporting mission this month.
Funded by a grant from the Carnegie Corp. of New York and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and team-taught by Carla Kimbrough and Luis Peon-Casanova, the trip is part of a series of interdisciplinary courses that focuses on issues relating to indigenous people. UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Mother And Child and The Secret In Their Eyes. The Secret In Their Eyes will show through July 1, while Mother And Child will screen through July 8.
