Nature Conservancy Prairie Expert to Speak Today

The School of Natural Resources Outreach Seminar Series continues with ecologist, writer and photographer Chris Helzer, 7 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Hardin Hall auditorium. He will present an up-close look at neighboring prairies, and the management practices used to preserve native grassland ecosystems - the subject of his new book.
Helzer is the program director for the Nature Conservancy's Eastern Nebraska Project Office in Aurora, where he oversees the management and restoration of approximately 5,000 acres of conservancy-owned land, as well as research and conservation programs in eastern Nebraska. UNL Homecoming Royalty Finalists Selected
Twenty senior students have been selected as Homecoming royalty finalists at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The Homecoming king and queen will be elected by a vote of the student body Sept. 23 and crowned Sept. 25 at halftime of the Nebraska vs. South Dakota State football game at Memorial Stadium.
Voting for king and queen will be conducted 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Nebraska Union and online. View a list of all nominees for royalty.
Former Jailed CFO of HealthSouth To Give Ethics Day Lecture

Aaron Beam, former chief financial officer of HealthSouth, will give the annual Ethics Day Lecture for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business Administration Sept. 21. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 301 N. 12th St.
Beam will explain how he and Richard Scrushy founded HealthSouth and developed it into a NYSE Fortune 500 company. It ended badly when fraud began in 1996. His talk will describe the corporate culture that allowed the fraud to continue for seven years. Aaron Beam will also discuss how to spot the signs of ethical collapse in any company. more...
