Law College Hosts Fourth Annual Space, Telecom Law Seminar
The UNL College of Law will host its fourth annual Omaha Space Law Seminar from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Hilton Omaha, with a reception following. This year's theme is "Operationalizing Space Law: The Law of Space Operations" and will feature numerous national speakers.
Panelists will explore topics such as whether international law is a sufficient gap-filler to operationalize space law; when United Nations Charter Article 2(4)/51 is triggered in space operations; whether ground and cyber attacks impacting space operations are subject to space rules; how the line between space activities deserving a civil/criminal response or a military response should be delimited, and other topics. more...

Math Honor Society Welcomes Visiting Penn State Professor
James Sellers, Penn State University
Pi Mu Epsilon will host James Sellers, professor of mathematics at Pennsylvania State University, at 4 p.m., Nov. 1 in Avery 115. Sellers will present "Revisiting What Euler and the Bernoullis Knew about Convergent Infinite Series." A reception will precede the lecture at 3:30 p.m. in Avery 348.
Sellers completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He went on to receive his Ph.D at Penn State University under the direction of David Bressoud. In 2001, he joined Penn State faculty as a professor and the associate head for undergraduate mathematics. Sellers served as a visiting fellow at the Isaac Newton Institute at Cambridge University in 2008. He currently serves as the governor of the Allegheny Mountain Section of the Mathematical Association of America. more...

Combined Campaign Begins Today
The UNL Combined Campaign is going green. The annual fund raising campaign for the Lincoln-area Combined Campaign for Health and Human Services is Nov. 1-19. The theme is "Making the World a Better Place... One Life at a Time."
To help reduce costs and make the campaign more environmentally friendly, UNL employees will be able to make pledges electronically this year. Pledge packets will not be delivered to individual employees. more...

OASIS Holds Annual Day of the Dead Celebration
The Office of Academic Success and Intercultural Services (OASIS) is happy to announce the annual Day of the Dead Celebration at 6 p.m., Nov. 1 in the Nebraska Union Ballroom. The celebration will feature a Mexican Folkloric dance performance by Sangre Azteca, a poetry-music performance by Echopoetico and a performance by Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Inc. This event is free and open to the public.

UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Never Let Me Go and Cairo Time. Cairo Time will show through Nov. 4, while Never Let Me Go will screen through Nov. 11.
