Lied Center Offers Free Tickets To Students

As part of the the Lied Center for Performing Arts' Arts for All program, all UNL students are eligible to receive one free ticket to each of 14 shows in the lineup.
The varied program includes a classical performance by Joshua Bell, jazz from Branford Marsalis & Terrence Blanchard, the Harlem Gospel Choir, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, and more. For more information, and to reserve tickets, visit the Lied Center shop on UNL Marketplace.
Invisible Children Documentary Screening
The Invisible Children "Face to Face Tour" is coming to UNL, offering information on and stories from the war torn region of northern Uganda. The presentation is part of a nationwide tour organized by Invisible Children. The group provides ways for individuals to get involved in a Ugandan student's education.
A free screening of the film "Go" is 8 p.m., Nov. 11 in Love Library South, room 102. The 35-minute film gives a brief history of the rebel war in northern Uganda. It also tells the story of three American students and their interaction with Ugandan youths. The screening will include representatives from Invisible Children and a Ugandan student. more....

Levin helps define 16th century death

The request came via e-mail in June. Producers of a British documentary show needed an expert on Queen Elizabeth I of England and they turned to Carole Levin, professor of history and director of UNL's Medieval and Renaissance Studies program.
Levin specializes in late medieval and early modern English and European cultural and women's history, including Queen Elizabeth I. She has published several books, including "The Reign of Elizabeth I." She eagerly jumped at the chance to participate in "Mystery Files," a show that cracks open the most famous and iconic mysteries. more...

Theatrix Presents The Inferno
Theatrix, the student-run theatre organization at the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, is excited to continue its fall 2010 season with The Inferno. Adapted and directed by senior Jordan Deffenbaugh, The Inferno is inspired by the first part of Dante Alighieri's fourteenth-century epic poem, "The Divine Comedy". It is an allegory telling of Dante's journey through the nine circles of Hell, guided by the poet Virgil.
Starring Lucy Myrtue, Ryan Rabstejnek and Emily Martinez, The Inferno features a cast of movers and dancers who take the stage and become the mythical creatures found on Dante's journey. The Inferno opens on November 11th with show time at 7:30 p.m. Additional performances on November 12th at 7:30 p.m., and November 14th at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 can be purchased online at the Theatrix website or at the door.
Never Let Me Go; Last Train Home Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Never Let Me Go and Last Train Home. Both films will screen through Nov. 11.
