UNL Alumni 'Masters' Return to Meet With Students Nov. 10-12

Ten outstanding alumni will return to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nov. 10-12 to share their experiences and knowledge with students as part of the annual Alumni Masters Week.

This year marks the 46th Alumni Masters Week, a program sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association, Scarlet Guard (the alumni association's student group), Innocents Society, Mortar Board and the Chancellor's Office. All students are encouraged to take part in lectures, presentations and events with the Alumni Masters, who will speak about ways to apply formal education to working situations and career goals. In addition, students and the public are welcome to a reception for the Alumni Masters 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Wick Alumni Center, 1520 R St. A brief program is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. more...

 

Credit
Community Presentation on Credit Scores, Being "Money Smart,"

UNL is offering a session on "Exploring Your Credit Score," 6 to 7 p.m., Nov. 10 in the East Union (room posted). The event, sponsored by the UNL Tax Credit Campaign and the Student Money Management Center, is free and open to the public.

The session is designed to help individuals improve their financial knowledge and security. Information on credit scores will be provided by Kathy Prochaska-Cue, professor in Child, Youth and Family Studies; and members of the UNL Student Money Management Center. more....

UNL will celebrate International Education Week through a series of campus events Nov. 10-18.

International Education Week is an initiative led by the U.S. departments of State and Education. Started in 2000, the annual initiative celebrates the importance and benefits of international education in the United States and around the world. MLK Celebration Hosts Student Essay Contest
MLK Week

The Chancellor's 2011 Martin Luther King, Jr. Planning Committee is hosting an essay contest that is open to all UNL students. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three essay writers. The deadlines is Dec 1.

The intention of this year's MLK essay contest is not simply to write a winning essay. Rather, it is to respond to the call of President Obama and in remembrance of Dr. King by submitting a meaningful and substantial essay that addresses some of the issues of our time. more...
