Career Services to Hold Prep Night for Upcoming Career Fair

UNL Career Services is hosting a Prep Night from 4-7 p.m., Feb. 10 to show students to make the most of the upcoming Spring Career Fair.

An panel of employers will be available from 4-5 p.m. to discuss what they look for in prospective employees. Resume reviews will then take place from 5-7 p.m. Attending this event is sure to help any student be ready for the Spring Career Fair on Feb. 15 and 16.

'Happy Days' to play Johnny Carson Theatre

The Lied Center for Performing Arts has teamed with Tada Productions to present "Happy Days: A New Musical," Feb. 10-13 and Feb. 17-20 in the Johnny Carson Theatre. Show times are 7 p.m., Feb. 10-11 and 17-18 and 2 p.m. Feb. 13 and 20. Tickets are $20 and are available through the Lied box office or their website.

The musical is based on Paramount Pictures' hit television series "Happy Days." Complete with varsity sweaters, hula hoops and jukebox sock hopping, the performance reintroduces one of America's best-loved families, the Cunninghams, as well as the gang at Arnolds. more...

Carol Geary Schneider, president of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, returns to UNL Feb. 10 for a one-day symposium celebrating UNL's efforts to improve undergraduate education. A public presentation runs from 2-3:15 p.m. in the Nebraska Union Auditorium with a reception and poster session to follow in the Heritage Room. All faculty and interested members of the UNL community are encouraged to attend the presentation and reception.

Watkins to Speak on Renaissance Queenship

John Watkins

The Medieval and Renaissance Studies Program will host a lecture from John Watkins at 7:30 p.m. in Andrews Hall Room 228. Watkins will be presenting a lecture titled, "Drinking from Your Father's Skull: Late Antique Pre-history of Renaissance Queenship."

Watkins is a professor of English at University of Minnesota. His areas of expertise are sovereignty and queenship, medieval and early modern diplomacy, and premodern political culture.

ACE Course Instructors Encouraged to Submit Grant Proposals

Instructors who teach large, introductory ACE-certified courses are invited to submit grant proposals for the Course Impact Project. The deadline for proposals is Feb. 28. More information and proposal forms can be found at the OUS website.

Approved in January 2008 by UNL faculty, the Achievement-Centered General Education Program is built on student learning outcomes that answer the fundamental question, "What should all undergraduate students--irrespective of their majors and career aspirations--know or be able to do upon graduation?"
