UNL.edu Now Serves 5 Million Pages a Month

For the first time ever, pages delivered from the UNL website surpassed 5 million per month on a trailing-12-months basis, according to Google Analytics. 61,929,692 pages were served from unl.edu domains from February 1, 2010 through January 31, 2011, up more than 39 percent over the year-earlier period.

The all-time single-day record for pageviews served by UNL.edu was the first day of fall semester this academic year. 501,921 UNL web pages were delivered on August 23, 2010.

Speaker to Discuss Bike-Friendly Campus Concepts Saturday

Andy Clarke, president of the League of American Bicyclists in Washington, D.C., will discuss how to create a more bicycle-friendly campus at 9:30 a.m., Feb. 12 in the Nebraska Union, room 204. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Clarke's visit corresponds with an initiative taken by the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska. The ASUN Senate on Nov. 3 unanimously approved a bill that created the Bicycle Transportation Ad Hoc Committee, which was charged with evaluation, assessment and execution of steps toward becoming a "Bicycle Friendly University" as defined and awarded by the League of American Bicyclists. more...

Big Red Road Show QWEST CENTER OMAHA, SUN 1PM
'Big Red Road Show' is Feb. 13 at Qwest Center

UNL will hold the ninth-annual "Big Red Road Show" at Qwest Center Omaha from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 13. The theme for the 2011 Big Red Road Show is "Huskerwood," spotlighting 75 interactive exhibits with displays of star-studded alumni and A-list career possibilities. Admission is free.

Big Red Road Show is designed to help high school seniors make their final decisions about college and high school juniors and sophomores to begin their college search. Students of all ages and adults can attend to experience a glimpse of college life at UNL. Representatives from all UNL undergraduate colleges, graduate studies, and student affairs offices such as Scholarships and Financial Aid, Career Services, and Admissions will be on hand. Free 'Double Reed Days' Concert is Friday

The School of Music will open its "Double Reed Days" clinic with a free concert, 7:30 p.m., Feb. 11 in Westbrook Recital Hall, room 119. The concert is open to the public.

The performance will feature guest clinicians Charles "Chip" Hamann and Jeffrey Lyman alongside faculty artists William McMullen and Jeffrey McCray. more...

 

Behlen Observatory to Hold Public Night

UNL's Behlen Observatory, located near Mead, will be open to the public 7:30-10 p.m., Feb. 11.

Provided the sky is clear, visitors will be able to view a variety of objects with the observatory's 30-inch telescope and with smaller telescopes set up outside the observatory. These include the moon, the planet Jupiter (early in the evening), the Great Orion Nebula, a star cluster, and double or multiple stars. At 8 p.m., a member of the observatory staff will give an illustrated talk about the Orion Nebula. more...
