Dean Candidate Smith's Public Presentation is Today
Alice E. Smith, one of five finalists to become dean of the College of Engineering, will give a public presentation at 3:30 p.m. today in Walter Scott Engineering Center, room 237. A search committee selected the five candidates.
Smith is professor and chair of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Auburn University after previously being on faculty at University of Pittsburgh. She has degrees in engineering and business from Rice University, Saint Louis University and Missouri University of Science and Technology. She also has industrial experience at Southwestern Bell Corp. Her research interests are in analysis, modeling and optimization of complex systems. more...

CIC Begins Campus Visit Today
One Big Ten team isn't waiting to mix it up with the Huskers. And while others are focused on athletics in regard to UNL's July 1 entry into the new conference, this Big Ten squad is interested in learning about Big Red academic programs and meeting faculty.
Members of the Committee on Institutional Cooperation will visit UNL Feb. 28 to March 2. The CIC is a consortium of Big Ten universities plus the University of Chicago. The group works to advance the academic missions of members, provide opportunities for faculty and students, leverage the power of shared resources and collaborate on innovative programs.
A public reception is 4 to 5 p.m. March 1 in the Nebraska Union Regency Suite. The event is open to all faculty, staff and students. more...
Students Transferring to CBA Must Attend Upcoming Meeting
Students who want to transfer into the College of Business Administration must pick up their file in General Studies and then attend one of two meeting times. The first meeting is at 3:30 p.m., March 3 in CBA 107. The second is at 10:30 a.m., March 14 in CBA 104.
Barney's Version; Biutiful Play at the Ross
UNL's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center presents Barney's Version and Biutiful. Both films will screen through Mar. 3.
