Visiting Fulbright scholar's presentations are today
Visiting Fulbright Scholar Rokeya Sultana, professor of art and faculty of fine art at Dhaka University in Bangladesh, will present a slide lecture at noon in 218 Richards Hall. The lecture will be followed by a 2 p.m. roundtable discussion in Woods Art Building, room 305. Both events are free and open to the public.
Sultana has been in residence in Art and Art History since October. Her lecture will focus on her creative work and the perspective she has on American life. In addition, her work will be on display in an exhibition at the Rotunda Gallery in the Nebraska Union from May 7-18. A reception will be held May 7, time to be announced. National nutrition group honors Zempleni

Janos Zempleni, professor nutrition and health sciences and director of the Nebraska Gateweay for Nutrigenomics, received the Outstanding Investigator Award 2012 from the American Society of Nutrition.
Zempleni was recognized for his contributions to nutrition research and the mission of the ASN's Nutrient-Gene Interactions Research Interest Section. The ASN is the nation's premier professional organization for investigators conducting clinical and basic nutrition research and has about 3,000 members. Read more about this honor in Today@UNL.

CBA recognizes top business leaders
The College of Business Administration held its Advisory Board Annual Awards Luncheon on Friday, April 13. The awards recognize the outstanding accomplishments of business leaders and corporations in the state of Nebraska and the world.
Kirk Kellner, President of the College of Business Administration Advisory Board and Regional President of Wells Fargo Bank, was the emcee for the event. Donde Plowman, James Jr. and Susan Stuart Endowed Dean of the College of Business Administration, presented the awards to the recipients. Kellner pointed out the significance of the award winners by connecting them with those from the past. Read more about these recognitions in Today@UNL.

'Evenings of Dance' performances are April 19-22
The School of Music presents "Evenings of Dance," an annual concert of modern dance works by faculty and guests of the UNL dance program directed by associate professor of dance Susan Levine.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. April 19-21, and 3 p.m. April 22 in the Lied Center's Johnny Carson Theater. Tickets, available at the door one hour before a performance, are $20 general admission and $10 for students and senior citizens. Read more about these performances in Today@UNL.

Rising tuition, student debt focus of Public Policy forum

What is driving the cost of college tuition? What are the social, economic, and global implications of increasing college debt for American students?
Edward St. John, a professor of higher education at the University of Michigan School of Education, will address these and similar questions at an April 19 forum at UNL, "College Tuition and Student Debt: Historical, Policy, and Global Perspectives." Biological sciences seminar features dynamics of tropical rain forests
The School of Biological Sciences seminar series continues with a 3:30 p.m., April 19 lecture by Robin Chazdon of the University of Connecticut. The talk, which is free and open to the public, is in Hamilton Hall, room 112.
Chazdon's talk is titled "From Pastures to Forests: Successional Dynamics of Tropical Rain Forests." She will discuss trends in community assembly of seedlings and trees during succession in relation to functional groups and phylogenetic relatedness.

UNL hosts CIC digital humanities summit, April 19-20
On April 19-20, UNL and the Committee on Institutional Cooperation will host the first Digital Humanities Summit in Lincoln. The CIC is working to develop a stronger faculty community and networks in digital humanities between member universities. The Digital Humanities Summit, held at the Cornhusker Hotel, will engage the 60 attendees in discussions to identify potential collaborative research opportunities between CIC members.
Katherine Walter, professor and chair of the Digital Initiatives and Special Collections for the UNL Libraries, and co-director of the Center for Digital Research in the Humanities is co-chairing the CIC's Digital Humanities Collaboration Committee and is overseeing the planning for the summit. Diplomat to address U.N.'s role in human rights, fundamental freedoms

Ambassador Peter Jankowitsch will address faculty, staff and students at noon in the College of Law's Hamann Auditorium. He will discuss "The Current Role of the United Nations in Shaping a New World Order Based on the Respect for International Law and Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms."
Jankowitsch is an Austrian diplomat and politician who studied law and political science at the University of Vienna and the Hague Academy of International Law. He served as an Austrian delegate to various United Nations bodies including the General Assembly, the Security Council and the United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea. 'Operation Graduation' workshops open April 19

The Student Money Management Center is hosting "Operation Graduation" workshops April 19, 24 and 26. The sessions, 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Nebraska Union, are designed for students, particularly those preparing for graduation.
Topics covered are employee benefits, repaying student loans, common financial mistakes graduates make and Dave Ramsey's steps for financial success. The workshops are free and open to all students.

UNL launches Nebraska App
UNL has launched the Nebraska App, a suite of mobile applications that makes essential university resources available on mobile devices. Students can check grades, access course content and browse the course catalog. They can access the public directory and get in touch instantly, keep tabs on Husker sports, find places on the campus map, stay informed with the latest campus news, watch videos, and even listen to podcasts of popular lectures in iTunesU.
