• Feb. 26: Black History Month Celebration Trivia Night. 4 p.m. via Zoom. Winners and lucky participants may win various prizes, and the top winner will receive a $40 gift card. The UNL Jazz Singers will open the night with three selections: Hand in Hand (Ralph Towner, arr. Dollison/Marsh); When I Fall in Love (Heyman/Young, arr. Phil Azelton); Here I Am, There I Go (J.D. Walter, arr. Kerry Marsh). The UNL Jazz Orchestra will then perform a set to be selected from: Blues in Hoss’ Flat (Frank Foster); Pete Wheeler (Jacob Mann); Green Piece (Maria Schneider); Skylark (Hoagy Carmichael, arr. Bob Brookmeyer); Phobos (Darcy James Argue).

• March 11: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture Panel: "Serious Play: Radical Publications and Their Histories." 5:30 p.m. The lecture will be held via Zoom: https://unl.zoom.us/j/91088525799. Featuring Sampada Aranke, Assistant Professor of Art History, School of the Art Institute of Chicago; Alexis Salas, Assistant Professor of Art History, New Mexico State University; Julia Neal, Lecturer in African American Art History, Georgia State University; and Kieran Jack Wilson, photographer and activist in Lincoln.

• March 12: IGNITE: LaJuné McMillian, new media artist and creative technologist. 12:30 p.m. Free and open to the public. Presented via Zoom at https://go.unl.edu/ignitespring. McMillian creates art that integrates performance, virtual reality, and physical computing to question our current forms of communication. McMillian was previously the Director of Skating at Figure Skating in Harlem, where they integrated STEAM and Figure Skating to teach girls of color about movement and technology. IGNITE is a colloquium for all Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts students, which involves guest lectures, workshops and seminars around creative and professional development.
