• Nov. 30: Symphonic Band Performance. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Free and open to the public. This performance will also be live webcast. The Symphonic Band, under the direction of Tony Falcone, has the distinction of being the band program’s top symphonic ensemble. Their program is titled "The Experience of Light" and features compositions by David Maslanka, Aaron Perrine, John Mackey and Spanish composer Anton Alcalde.

• Dec. 1: Wind Ensemble. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Free and open to the public. This performance will also be live webcast. Their December performance is inspired by Sanford Meisner, who said, “Acting is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances.” Their program includes Frank Ticheli’s "The Tyger," Aaron Perrine’s "In the Open Air, In the Silent Lines," Joel Puckett’s "It Perched for Vespers Nine," Julie Giroux’s "Bookmarks from Japan" and Zhou Tian’s "Seeker’s Scherzo."

• Dec. 2-5: Theatrix presents "Clown Bar" by Adam Szymkowicz. Performances are Dec. 2-4 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. in the Lab Theatre, 3rd floor of the Temple Building, 12th and R streets. A clown noir play about a former clown named Happy who has returned to the seedy underground crime world to find his brother’s killer. Directed by Matthew Blom.

• Dec. 3: IGNITE featuring Bernie Su. 12:30-1:50 p.m. Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts or via Zoom at https://go.unl.edu/ignitefall2021. Free and open to the public. Su is a three-time Primetime Emmy award-winning short form and interactive creator and showrunner. He is currently the co-creator and showrunner of the Peabody award-winning Artificial, the first live audience-interactive science fiction series to debut on Twitch.

• Dec. 3-4: Student Dance Project. 7:30 p.m. each night. Studio Theatre in the Temple Building, 12th and R sts. Tickets are $5 general admission and $3 students/seniors, available at the door. The annual Student Dance Project is a program of original work by 16 student choreographers in the Glenn Korff School of Music's dance program.

• Dec. 5: Welcome All Wonders. 3 and 7:30 p.m. Newman Center, 320 N. 16th St. Free and open to the public. Five traditional choirs from the Glenn Korff School of Music will combine to sing holiday favorites, traditional carols and other separate and combined works. The choirs include University Singers, Chamber Singers, Varsity Chorus, University Chorale and the All-Collegiate Chorus.

• Dec. 6: Flyover Performance II. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Music Building Rm. 119. Free and open to the public. This performance will also be live webcast. The Flyover New Music Series is the new music series from the composition studio at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Glenn Korff School of Music. The series is administered and overseen by composition faculty and students. The second concert of the 2021-2022 season is titled “Altered Avenues.” The pieces on this concert, all written by UNL students, showcase many musical styles and genres hat are of interest to the composition area.

• Dec. 7: Symphony Orchestra. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Free and open to the public. This performance will also be live webcast. The program for their Dec. 7 concert is titled “Resilience,” and will feature music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert and Igor Stravinsky, as well as the world premiere of a new concerto by White titled "Resilience: Fantasy for tuba and orchestra." This 12-minute work traces a dramatic narrative trajectory from catastrophe, through lament, and on to lyrical and intensely rhythmic triumph.

• Dec. 8: Cornhusker Marching Band Highlights Concert. 7:30 p.m. Lied Center for Performing Arts. Tickets are $20 adults and $10 students/seniors, available from the Lied Center Box Office at (402) 472-4747 or online at https://go.unl.edu/cmbhighlights. It’s show time as the Cornhusker Marching Band Highlights Concert returns to the Lied Center for Performing Arts. Come experience the sights and sounds of the Pride of all Nebraska as they perform halftime shows from the 2021 season, their Pregame Spectacular and much more!

• Dec. 10: Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film Open Studios. 6-9 p.m. Temple Building, 12th and R streets. Free and open to the public. The Design Tech work will be on display in the lobby of the Temple Building as a gallery. The gallery will remain on display through the weekend until Wednesday, Dec. 15. Open Studios is a celebration of student work made during this semester. In addition, at 7:30 p.m., the senior performance majors will be presenting 10 original devised solo performances in the Lab Theatre on the 3rd floor of the Temple Building. "Objectivity: The Solo Performance Project," written and performed by these talented students, is also a free event.

• Dec. 10: Emerging Media Arts Open Studios. Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, 13th and Q streets. 4-8 p.m. Free and open to the public. The Carson Center presents its second in-person open studios event, where artistic or creative work can be viewed and discussed. There may be finished works or works in progress. Visitors will find everything from video to film, works made with code and software, digital fabrications, and interactive sculptures, dance performances using motion capture to drive avatars in virtual worlds, story and design projects, sonic media performances, works on paper, photography, and more. Work from the following Fall 2021 courses will be on display: LIghting Design, Visual Expression Studio, Computational Media Studio, Storyworlds, Innovation Studio—The Art of Non-Fiction: Seabreeze Bop City, Principles of Interactivity, Sonic Studio, Real-Time Creativity, Cinema Production and Digital Fabrication.

• Dec. 10-11: Clay Club, Photo Club and Painting Club Fall Sale. Hours for the Clay Club’s sale are Friday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Their sale will take place in Richards Hall Rm. 118. Hours for the Painting and Photo Sale are Friday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Painting and Photo Sale will take place in Richards Hall Rm. 112. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted at both sales. Both sales will also have raffles.

• Dec. 10: Musical Theatre Showcase. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Music Building Rm. 119. Free and open to the public. Scenes from both classic and more contemporary musicals will be performed in a free performance by Nebraska’s award-winning musical theatre students in the Glenn Korff School of Music.

• Dec. 11: UNL Opera presents "Amahl and the Night Visitors." 1:30 and 3 p.m. Studio Theatre in the Temple Building, 12th and R sts. Free and open to the public. The tradition continues. Three mysterious Kings arrive at the home of a poor mother and her son. This heartwarming story of kindness, generosity, and miracles will be the perfect start to the holiday season for the entire family.

• Dec. 13: Nebraska Repertory Theatre: Twilight at the Rococo. 6 p.m. Rococo Theatre, 140 N. 13th St. Tickets are $100 and available at https://nebraskarep.org. Nebraska Repertory Theatre presents Twilight at the Rococo — a gala event featuring drinks, dinner and most importantly, music. With special permission from the Wilder Family, Nebraska Rep and professional musicians will perform musical excerpts from a new score written specifically for Thornton Wilder’s classic American play "Our Town." Twilight at the Rococo celebrates this inaugural performance, and all proceeds benefit The Rep.

• Dec. 13-17: Capstone Exhibition. Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. A closing reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 17 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. This exhibition presents the work of the fall 2021 semester's graduating Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts seniors as a culmination of their coursework and exploration.
