• Continuing through March 25: MFA Thesis Exhibition I. Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. Featuring the work of Allison Arkush (ceramics) and Maddie Aunger (painting). An artist's talk will take place on Friday, March 25 at 4 p.m. in Richards Hall Rm. 15. A closing reception will be held Friday, March 25 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. • March 23: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture: Kathryn Gleason, art history. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Gleason is professor of landscape architecture and a member of the Cornell Institute for Archaeology and Material Studies (CIAMS) at Cornell University.

• March 26-27: Nebraska Repertory Theatre presents "Traveling Shoes." Performances are March 26 at 7:30 p.m. and March 27 at 2 p.m. in the Lab Theatre, 3rd floor of the Temple Building. Tickets are available at https://nebraskarep.org. Directed by Ron Himes, the founder and producing director of the St. Louis Black Repertory Company. A collage of poetry, prose, music and dance. Join Nebraska Rep for a moving, original performance piece conceived and directed by Himes in collaboration with students from The Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. The production continues The Rep's partnership with the St. Louis Black Repertory Company.

One of the most active and visible quintets in the Midwest, the Moran Woodwind Quintet is the resident faculty woodwind quintet of the Glenn Korff School of Music.

• April 2: Flute Day. All-day. Westbrook Music Building. High school flutists will perform in morning masterclasses with Larson Professor of Flute John Bailey, and guest collegiate flutists perform in the afternoon masterclass. There will be a flute choir reading session for all participants and a showcase recital featuring Nebraska flutists performing flute and piano and flute solo works.

• April 2: Ezinma & Voices of Victory Gospel Choir. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Co-sponsored by the Meadowlark Music Festival and the Glenn Korff School of Music. For ticket information, visit https://meadowlarkmusicfestival.org. This gala concert celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Meadowlark Music Festival. Born and raised in Lincoln, Ezinma was an early winner of Meadowlark's String Competition and graduated from the Glenn Korff School of Music in 2012. She gained viral fame by performing a violin cover of American rapper Future's hit "Mask Off." Beyoncé then invited her to perform at Coachella. In 2020 she debuted as a solo musician for Universal Music Classics. Currently living in Los Angeles, Enzima has performed with Stevie Wonder, Kendrick Lamar, Yo Yo Ma, composed and performed for film, commercials, and been a guest on numerous recordings. Her first solo recording "Classical Bae" is now available on Decca records.

The Flyover New Music Series is the new music series from the composition studio in the Glenn Korff School of Music.

• April 5: George Walker Festival. Noon performance in Sheldon Museum of Art. Graduate students from the Glenn Korff School of Music will perform solo works by black composers. 6:30 p.m. pre-concert panel discussion in Kimball Recital Hall on diversity in music. 7:30 p.m. performance in Kimball Recital Hall featuring works by Walker performed by Glenn Korff School of Music ensembles, faculty soloists and student chamber groups. All events are free and open to the public. The festival will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the composer’s birth. Walker (1922-2018) was the first African American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music for his work “Lilacs” for voice and orchestra in 1996.

• April 6: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture: Chip Thomas, interdisciplinary. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Thomas, a.k.a. jetsonorama, is a photographer, public artist and physician, who has been working in a small clinic on the Navajo Nation since 1987.

• April 13: Hixson-Lied Visiting Scholar Lecture: David Lubin, film and art history. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Also accessible via Zoom at https://unl.zoom.us/j/94380775980. Lubin is the Charlotte C. Weber Professor of Art at Wake Forest University. Lubin’s lecture is titled “Edward Hopper and Classic American Cinema.” Hopper, an avid filmgoer in his private life, has often been regarded as the most cinematic of 20th century American painters. Lubin considers in-depth the cinematic qualities and themes of Hoppers’ art from the 20s through the 50s, a golden age for Hollywood, as well as for Hopper.

• April 13-24: Nebraska Repertory Theatre presents "Our Town." Howell Theatre. For tickets and showtimes, visit https://nebraskarep.org. Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it—every, every minute? "Our Town" is a moving look at life in the small town of Grover's Corners. This poignant American tale explores friendship, love and death, but most importantly, what it truly means to live. This production is directed by guest director Arthur Feinsod and features the world premiere of a new score by Craig Woerz performed live to Thornton Wilder's classic play.

• April 18: University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Lincoln Public Schools String Project Performance. 5:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Free and open to the public. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln & Lincoln Public Schools String Project is an after-school teacher-training program that gives children the opportunity to begin playing a stringed instrument one year before they start strings in school (3rd/4th grade or the equivalent in their school). It also affords the same opportunity to students who are home-schooled or who attend private or parochial schools that may not have string programs, as well as students who live in outlying areas.
