• Nov. 28: University of Nebraska Brass Quintet. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Free and open to the public. This performance will also be live webcast. Visit http://music.unl.edu the day of the concert for the link.

• Nov. 29: Chiara String Quartet: "Hall and Notes." 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets: $20 adults, $10 seniors and $5 students. For advance ticket sales, contact the Lied Center Box Office at (402) 472-4747. Series tickets are also available. The Chiara Quartet will be joined by Glenn Korff School of Music Assistant Professor of Percussion Dave Hall for a program of dynamic music for quartet and percussion, alongside the Mendelssohn String Quartet in D Major, Op. 44, No. 1.

• Nov. 30: Lecture by Alex Knodell. 5:30 p.m. Nebraska Union Auditorium, 14th and R sts. Free and open to the public. Knodell, who is an assistant professor in the Classics department at Carleton College and co-director of the archaeology program, presents the next lecture for the Archaeological Institute of America Omaha-Lincoln Society. His lecture is titled “Survey Archaeology and Long-Term History: Crossroads and Boundaries in an Ancient Greek Borderland."

• Nov. 30-Dec. 1: Wet Ink. 7:30 p.m. each night. Westbrook Recital Hall Rm. 119. Free and open to the public. The composition program at the Glenn Korff School of Music presents its Wet Ink concert series. This two-evening concert series features an especially varied and rich set of premieres from the student composers at Nebraska.

• Nov. 30 & Dec. 1-3, 4: UNL Theatre presents "Hamlet." Performances are Nov. 30 and Dec. 1-3 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. Howell Theatre, first floor of the Temple Building. • Dec. 2: Chamber Singers. 5:30 p.m. Sheldon Museum of Art. Free and open to the public. They will perform two sets, one at 5:30 p.m. and the second set at 6:15 p.m. The concert is part of Sheldon's First Friday event.

• Dec. 2: ChamberFest. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Recital Hall Rm. 119. Free and open to the public.

Dec. 7: Wind Ensemble. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets: $5 general and $3 students/seniors, available at the door. This performance will also be live webcast. Visit http://music.unl.edu the day of the concert for the link. The Wind Ensemble’s second concert of the season opens with a brand-new work by Alexandra Gardner, Perseids. Named for the meteor shower visible in the Northern hemisphere in July and August, the work is a metaphorical navigational tool in a program inspired by travel. We will then set out with Pulitzer Prize winning composer Jennifer Higdon’s Road Stories, an optimistic and variegated work that combines nostalgia and irrepressible energy. The second half of the program is dedicated to John Mackey’s epic Wine Dark Sea. This 30-minute symphony for band that explores three central themes from Homer’s Odyssey, perhaps the greatest road story of all time.

Dec. 8: Jazz Orchestra and Big Band. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Free and open to the public. This performance will also be live webcast. Lewis will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln during the concert.

• Dec. 9-10: Clay Club's Fall Sale and Raffle. Friday, Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 118. The sale will include works of art created by graduate students, undergraduate students, alumni and faculty in the School of Art, Art History & Design.

• Dec. 9-16: Capstone Exhibition. Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. Gallery hours: Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30 p.m. Free admission. A closing reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 16 from 5-7 p.m. Awards will be announced at 6 p.m. The Capstone Exhibition features the work of 21 graduating undergraduate candidates for graphic design and studio art degrees in the School of Art, Art History & Design.

Jan. 19: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture: Aaron Morse. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Morse received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati and his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona. He lives and works in Los Angeles, and his work is included in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
