• March 28: Hixson-Lied Visiting Scholar Lecture by Patricia Johnston. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Johnston studies how early American arts were influence by global trade, especially trade with Asia. She is the Rev. J. Gerard Mears, S.J., Chair in Fine Arts and Chair of the Visual Arts Department at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester Massachusetts, and a nationally recognized scholar of American art and its wider visual culture. The School of Art, Art History & Design’s Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist & Scholar Lecture Series brings notable artists, scholars and designers to Nebraska each semester to enhance the education of students.

• March 30: The Rep's Rising Stars. 7:30 p.m. Visit http://www.nebraskarep.org for ticket information. Get a glimpse of future Nebraska Repertory Theatre actors, singers, directors and designers at The Rep’s first annual Rising Stars Student Showcase. The evening will feature the very best student work of the year from the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. Directed by Sasha Dobson.

• April 2-6 MFA Thesis Exhibition I. Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. Closing reception will be held Friday, April 6 from 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30 p.m. This exhibition features the work of John-David Richardson, Phoebe Jan-McMahon and Kyle Nobles.

• April 4: Concert: Prague Spring 50. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Free and open to the public. This concert will also be live webcast. The concert, “Prague Spring 50: From Dvorak to Husa, and Beyond,” will feature the Wind Ensemble, directed by Carolyn Barber; the University of Nebraska Faculty Brass Quintet; and the Chiara String Quartet with pianist Mark Clinton playing music by Czech composers.

• April 5: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist and Scholar Lecture: Robert Storr. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. A prolifically productive, artist, critic, and curator, Storr has written articles, essays, books, including most recently, "Intimate Geometries: The Work and Life of Louise Bourgeois." As a curator, and then senior curator in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, he organized numerous critically acclaimed thematic and monographic exhibitions.

• April 5-8: Theatrix presents "4.48 Psychosis." Performances are April 5-7 at 7:30 p.m. and April 8 at 2 p.m. Lab Theatre, 3rd floor, Temple Building. Tickets are $7 each and available at the door or in advance at http://go.unl.edu/theatretix. By Sarah Kane. Directed by Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film senior Candace Nelson. "4.48 Psychosis" was written throughout the autumn and winter of 1998-99 as Kane battled with one of her recurring bouts of depression. On February 20, 1999, aged 28, the playwright committed suicide. On the page, the piece looks like a poem. No characters are named, and even their number is unspecified. It could be a journey through one person’s mind, or an interview between a doctor and his patient.

• April 7: Midwest ClariFest. All-day. Westbrook Music Building. Hosted by Hixson-Lied Professor of Clarinet Diane Barger and serving a community of state and regional clarinetists from junior high through college age, as well as teachers and band directors. • April 13-22: Nebraska Repertory Theatre presents "Lord of the Flies." Visit http://www.nebraskarep.org for showtimes and ticket information. William Golding’s 20th century classic Lord of the Flies explodes onto the stage in a fascinating production that integrates percussion, ritual and fire. When a school group survives a catastrophic plane crash, what starts as an island adventure quickly descends into a violent struggle for survival. Adapted for the stage by Nigel Williams. Directed by Kevin Rich.
