Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the event invited students, academics and industry partners to learn about unmanned aerial systems, plant sciences and educational activities across the midwest.

Following a welcome from Associate Dean Mark Riley, College of Engineering, two keynotes included Lisa Harper from the USDA speaking on AgBioData Consortium and James Wilgenbusch from the Minnesota Supercomputing Institute on G.E.M.S. platform for agricultural data management.

Breakout sessions reviewed objectives for next year, collaborations, funding opportunities and increasing participation in the hub. In addition, more than a dozen posters were presented representing UNL, Doane, Iowa State and the Water for Food institute addressing themes relevant to big data in UAS and Plant Sciences.

A one-day, hands-on workshop on UAS in agriculture on the use of UAS systems and basic data acquisition and processing was held in conjunction prior to the meeting at the Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center (ENREC) near Mead, Nebraska.
