Greetings! I am thrilled to provide you with the re-imagined faculty and staff newsletter. It has been a long time coming.
The Biological Systems Engineering Department is making great strides to improve how we serve the state, our students, and each other. Many of the things that you will read in this newsletter talk about how our faculty, staff, and students are serving, achieving, and having an impact up through their profession.
One of the aims of the department is to continue growing our student body. We have seen the number and quality of our students increase.
We have more graduate students starting in the fall, who come to us with diverse skill sets and a willingness to join us in the process of discovery and teaching. You can see this in the number of awards our graduate students garnered during the spring award season.
Our undergraduates both benefit from and enhance the curriculum. They participate on winning crops teams, develop lifesaving technologies, and continue to inspire us. The Department has continued to respond to student needs in classrooms, laboratories, and through their overall experiences with us.
You will also read about our graduates who are finding great opportunities after graduation, and I hope you will join us in congratulating them.
As with the students, you will read about our outstanding faculty. Two faculty have received ASABE honors not only for the discovery of new information but for how they communicate information and technologies management and judgment to producers and beyond.
I hope you enjoy the newsletter. Share your responses and feedback for ways that we can improve the newsletter and how we serve you. Thank you for reading, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Take care,
