Ge, Heeren recognized by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers

Yufeng Ge and Derek Heeren were both honored with 2018 awards from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. Ge received the New Holland Young Researcher Award while Heeren received the A.W. Farrall Young Educator Award.

The New Holland Young Researcher Award specifically recognizes the dedicated use of scientific methodology to discover facts or principles significant to agricultural engineering. The New Holland award also recognizes early career recipients for outstanding contributions to the advancement of the agricultural engineering profession and to stimulate professional achievement. It was established by New Holland North America Inc., New Holland, PA, in 1972.

The A.W. Farrall Young Educator Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the advancement of the agricultural engineering profession and to stimulate professional achievement. The Farrall award specifically honors outstanding success in motivating others to apply engineering principles to agricultural engineering problems. It was also established in 1972, by the family and friends of ASABE Past President and Life Fellow, A.W. Farrall.

Both awards are presented to current ASABE members under age 40. Ge and Heeren will be honored during the 2018 ASABE Annual International Meeting in Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. Both recipients will receive an engraved walnut plaque to commemorate their achievements.
