Student and Alumni Achievements May 6 - May 10

The Engineering Graduate Student Bulletin 14 students awarded the Milton E. Mohr Fellowship mentioned Brandi Brown and Lisbeth Vallecilla Yepez, Biological Systems Engineering, for being awarded the Milton E. Mohr Fellowship. The Milton E. Mohr Scholarship and Fellowships award program was established for students in the College of Engineering and Biotechnology degree programs. Over 30 engineering graduate students applied for the fellowship and only 14 students were chosen, two from each department.

Kai Meacham, a junior in biological systems engineering, was mentioned in UNL Annouce for being chosen as one of three winners of the Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Community.

Fei San Lee, doctoral student, biological systems engineering was mentioned in Nebraska Today and Graduate Connections for receiving a graduate award at the Spring Research Fair. San Lee’s research was on, “Neuro-inhibitory Microparticles For Drug Delivery: A Minimally Invasive Treatment for Low Back Pain.”

Juliana Rodriguez, senior, biological systems engineering was mentioned in Nebraska Today Research Fair poster winners announced for receiving an undergraduate award for her research in, “Surface Interaction of Wild Type and Antibiotic Resistant E. coli with Aliphatic and Aromatic Silanes” under Rajib Saha.

Hunter Miller, Biological Systems Engineering, was one of two students awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. This highly competitive fellowship provides $34,000 stipend per year for three years and is awarded to less than 15% of applicants yearly. Graduate Connections mentioned him in Celebrating Student Accomplishments.

Dr. Suat Irmak’s graduate students were featured on IANR News on flickr for their hard work, measuring infiltration rates using double-ring, single-ring, and mini-disk ilfiltrometers.

The Engineering Graduate Student Bulletin recognized the four College of Engineering graduates who received the top honors as 2018-19 College of Engineering Graduate Award recipients. Among those who received awards was Jiating Li, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering. She received the Outstanding Master’s Thesis award. 4 grad students receive top honors as Engineering Graduate Award recipients

Fei San Lee and Amy Mantz, Biological Systems Engineering, were recognized on the Engineering Graduate Student Bulletin for being part of the UNL and College of Engineering Graduate Student Poster Fair honors. Fei San received first honors and Amy received Commendations for their posters at the annual Spring Research Fair. 5 students receive UNL and College of Engineering Graduate Student Poster Fair honors
