Xin Qiao is the principle investigator on a grant to build a subsurface drip irrigation system to utilize effluent on crops by the UNL Panhandle Research Feedlot. The award will provide $287,605 for Qiao and his team from the Nebraska Environmental Trust. The research was featured in the Rapid City Journal article "NET grant approved for subsurface drip irrigation system at feedlot."

Bruce Dvorak gave well owners advice after recent floods impacted the state of Nebraska. FOX 42 KPTM Omaha's "UNMC says well owners in flooded areas should have well water tested" and Kearney Hub Farm and Ranch Network Service's "Well owners advised to have water tested after spring flooding" shared the tips.

Amy Schmidt also lent her expertise to Nebraskans affected by flooding. The article "Be Cautious When Feeding Flood-Damaged Feedstuffs" shared several quotes from Amy for the Successful Farming section of Agriculture.com’s website. Nebraska in the national news: May 2019 chose the story as a monthly highlight.
