BSE Quarter Scale team takes home first place in annual competition

The BSE 1/4 Scale Tractor Team was named the Overall Winner of this year’s ASABE International 1/4 Scale Tractor Student Design Competition. X-Team was also named second place overall.

A-Team took home the gold over the competition weekend that ran from May 30 to June 2 at the Expo Gardens Fairgrounds in Peoria, IL.

Winners were announced at an awards banquet and were given plaques, a trophy, and a cash award.

The A-Team won first place overall in their competition as well as placed first in test and development, safety, team presentation, durability performance and team performance, and placed third in design report.

The X-Team won second place overall in their competition and placed first in design presentation.

1/4 scale teams are challenged to conceptualize engineering fundamentals through the design of a frame, drive train, hitch, clutch, weight brackets, and other parts of a 1/4 scale tractor. The BSE team showed their mastery of the concepts of strength of materials, statics, and power transfer in their win.
