Name:
Sally Buchholz
Job Title:
Community Services Administrative Assistant
Where do you hail from:
I live in Lincoln but was born and raised in Alliance, Nebraska.
What is it they say you do:
I am the new Mary, the Community Services Administrative Assistant.
Who are your early influences/who inspired you most:
I don’t really remember my parents sitting me down and teaching me things, but as I look back on my life, I appreciate how powerfully they shaped my character and set my feet on the right path.
What has been your greatest source of career satisfaction/ proudest achievement:
My career has been filled with amazing opportunities, well beyond anything I could have anticipated when I was first starting out. I’m excited now to return to the University where I have many wonderful memories and great new opportunities as well.
What has been an unexpected detour/ greatest frustration/disappointment:
We moved my mom from Alliance to Lincoln in 2017 so that she could be closer to my brother and me. It has been wonderful having her here, but dementia is slowly taking her from us, so I wish we could have convinced her to move sooner.
What is your passion/what you are drawn to/what motivates you/where do you hope to be in five years:
I have always loved solving problems, from my early days as a graphic designer solving visual problems to a career in marketing, communications, management, fundraising, and now helping in CCFL’s work to address the problem of homelessness.
Family life/hobbies /community involvement:
My husband, Roger, and I have been married for 23 years. We enjoy traveling but we’re also content to stay home and putter around the house with our two Westies. I sing in the Abendmusik chorus and recently completed my second term on their board of directors. I’m also busy as the primary contact for my mom’s care and enjoy spending time with her.
The quotation I live my life by is......
But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
