Name:
Josh Rice

Job Title:
Web Developer

Where do you hail from:
I've lived in Lincoln for the past 19 years, but I'm moving to Northampton, MA at the end of July to be with my partner Leigh. She's finishing up grad school and then maybe her teaching cert.

What is it they say you do:
If it's not something to do with bikes, it'd be that I'm a dog whisperer.

Who are your early influences/who inspired you most:
Probably my friends Sydney Brown and Elisabeth Reinkordt. I might not have gotten into cycling so much without them.

What has been your greatest source of career satisfaction/ proudest achievement:
I made it a point to get more women racing cyclocross in Lincoln through Star City CX, which led to our biggest local women's racing fields year after year. We did this being the first local race organization to provide equal payouts to women and men, ensuring women were represented in promo materials and prioritized recruiting women to attend and lead our free cyclocross clinics.

What has been an unexpected detour/ greatest frustration/disappointment:
Breaking too many collarbones. Ever seen a chest horn?

What is your passion/what you are drawn to/what motivates you/where do you hope to be in five years:
Bikes and helping people...and dogs too.

Family life/hobbies /community involvement:
For the past 6 years, I've been on two local cycling non-profit boards and started Star City CX and the Lincoln chapter of Nebraska DEVO. (Kids mountain bike skills program) We have more than 40 kids in the DEVO program this summer, which has been really rad. Outside of bikes, I like to play video and board games, and tabletop RPGs.

The quotation I live my life by is......
Either "Be excellent to each other!" or "You can't have 'no' in your heart!"
