Each summer, Argonne offers a wide range of summer internship programs that provide undergraduates with in-depth looks into the diverse mission science and opportunities at the lab, while also preparing them for professional STEM careers. The CELS ALD welcomed nearly 150 students last summer.

The lab’s selection of summer programs includes:

Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI)

10-week internship program that provides undergraduate students with a STEM research experience funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

Application deadline: January 20, 2020, 5 p.m. EST

Community College Internship (CCI) Program

10-week internship program that provides community college students with a technical training experience funded by the DOE.

Application deadline: January 9, 2020, 5 p.m. EST

Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program (MSIPP)

10-week internship program for undergraduate and graduate STEM students from Minority Serving Institutions, funded by the DOE’s Office of Environmental Management.

Application deadline: January 21, 2020, 5 p.m. EST

Student Research Participation (SRP) Program

10-week internship program that provides undergraduate students with a STEM research experience funded by Argonne.

Application deadline: March 1, 2020

Professional Career Internship (PCI) Program

10-week internship program that provides an opportunity for nontechnical students to work on projects that support Argonne's mission.

Application deadline: March 1, 2020

Research Aide (RA) Program

Temporary employment program that provides an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to work on STEM research funded by Argonne.

Application deadline: March 1, 2020

Visiting Faculty Program (VFP)

Summer research opportunity for small research teams from academic institutions that are small, historically underrepresented, or not well-resourced, enabling them to collaborate with Argonne staff scientists and engineers. Funded by the DOE.
