University of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty, staff and students are invited to save the dates for Nebraska Research Days on Nov. 1-5, hosted by the Office of Research and Economic Development to celebrate and showcase research, scholarly and creative activity.
Research Days 2021 will focus on innovation; excellence in diversity, equity and inclusion; the Grand Challenges initiative; collaboration; and faculty recognition. A mix of in-person and virtual events will be offered, with prizes, videos and multimedia throughout the week.

• Monday, Nov. 1, 4-6 p.m. (in person) – Innovator Celebration hosted by NUtech Ventures.
• Monday, Nov. 1, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. (in person) – Grand Challenges Lunch and Learn, featuring guest speaker Jennifer Lyon Gardner, deputy vice president for research, who will share her experience implementing Bridging Barriers, the University of Texas at Austin’s research grand challenges program.
• Tuesday, Nov. 2, 11 a.m.-noon (virtual) – Grand Challenges Request for Proposals Town Hall, an opportunity to learn about the Grand Challenges Catalyst Competition and ask questions about the RFP requirements. Faculty may submit questions in advance to grandchallenges@unl.edu.
• Tuesday, Nov. 2, 4-6 p.m. (in person) – Faculty Research and Creativity Slam featuring scholars from a range of disciplines presenting their work in an interactive, engaging manner. To be considered to present at the Slam, submit a video by Oct. 11. The selected presenters and semi-finalists will be invited to an exclusive media skills training on Oct. 15. Slam attendees will vote on the best presenter, who will receive a $1,000 prize.
• Wednesday, Nov. 3, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Nebraska Research Days Keynote featuring Anna Gifty Opoku-Agyeman on diversity, equity and inclusion. In-person and virtual participation offered.
• Wednesday, Nov. 3, 3:30-5 p.m. (virtual) – Nebraska Lecture with Julia McQuillan, Willa Cather Professor of sociology, titled, “Disruptive Questions and Productive Tensions: What Can Social Scientists Bring to Teams Seeking Equity?” The Nebraska Lecture includes a live Q&A session and is open to the public.
• Thursday, Nov. 4, 2-5 p.m. (in person) – Birthday Party/Open House at Morrill Hall celebrating the 150th anniversary of the University of Nebraska State Museum, with free admission and activities.
• Friday, Nov. 5, 10-11 a.m. (virtual) – Faculty Recognition Event with prizes, videos and a keynote message from Bob Wilhelm, vice chancellor for research and economic development.
