Multiple Positions - The Daily Nebraskan (Lincoln, NE)

The Daily Nebraskan, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s student-run newspaper, is hiring for the spring semester. Our staff has open, paid positions in Copy, News, Culture, Photo and Design. Take alook at the job descriptions below to find out which section would be the best fit for you!

Copy Editor:
Do you find yourself correcting other people’s grammar in your head? Are you the person your friends go to for edits before submitting an essay for class? Our copy editors are responsible for finding AP style and grammar errors, writing headlines and preparing stories to publish on our website.

News Reporter:
Are you interested in current news on a local, state and national level? Do you find yourself fact-checking information you come across? Do you have a passion for data or investigative journalism? As a news reporter, you will stay up-to-date on what’s happening on campus and in the community. You have the opportunity to write in-depth profiles on UNL students, faculty and staff members. News reporters will take on event coverage, beat reporting and even stories driven by data.

Culture Reporter:
Are you someone who keeps up with the latest music, movies or fashion trends? Do you enjoy talking to people about their interests and hobbies? As a culture reporter, you will write stories about UNL and the Lincoln community that focus on local artists, current events and students’ passions. You will also have the opportunity to indulge in your own interests through reviews of movies, TV shows, music, literature or food.

Photographer/Videographer:
Do you find yourself more talented in telling stories visually than through words? Are you skilled with a camera or want to pursue a career in photojournalism? Our photographers attend events on campus, are on the sidelines of Husker athletic events (yes, including Husker football), take portraits of a variety of people and capture the beauty of UNL’s campus. You will also have the opportunity to create multimedia stories and photo stories. Don’t have your own equipment? The Daily Nebraskan has a variety of Canon camera bodies and lenses available to our staff photographers.

Designer:
If telling stories isn’t your thing, The Daily Nebraskan design staff might be the place for you. Our designers utilize Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator to design The DN magazine. You will also have opportunities to help out with other projects like data visualization, designing graphics for merchandise and promotional posters.
