Communications Spec I - UNL Agronomy & Horticulture (Lincoln, NE)

The new Center for Resilience at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a Communications Specialist to lead science communications efforts for the Center and on an NSF-funded project, “Resilience Informatics for the Convergence of Critical Capacities to Address Regional-scale Environmental Change.” The position will work directly with Dr. Dirac Twidwell and join a team of external communications specialists in natural resource agencies, extension, and education. A critical need of this position is for the communications specialist to develop communication materials that meet stakeholder needs, thereby providing more rapid and meaningful delivery of information for this community of practice.

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, plant science or related field plus two years of experience developing creative and diverse communication materials. Writing and editing skills. Word processing, spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing skills. Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop. Experience must demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills. Ability to work independently and provide leadership that effectively communicates complex interdisciplinary problems. Ability to provide creative design ideas and implement technology-based solutions. Must have artistic ability to design effective and appealing materials.
