Associated Press Elections Division is seeking applicants for the position of "virtual vote entry operator." This is an occasional, work from home position. Operators will take calls from stringers on site in county vote tabulation centers around the country and enter results into the Associated Press database. Those hired must be available to work the evening of Nov. 3, 2020 and other dates for training and rehearsal.
Training and rehearsal times will be compensated at the quoted rate. There also may be opportunities to work the remaining elections in August and September prior to Nov. 3. Elections usually take place on Tuesday nights. Those hired will receive two hours of training. Applicants will need to have basic computer data-entry skills.
Applicants must have:
1. A stable broadband internet connection
2. A PC or Mac
3. Windows 7, Windows 10, MacOS, or OS X 10.8.1 or later
4. Minimum vertical screen resolution of 768 - computers with a vertical resolution of 768 may not work
5. A microphone and speakers connected to your computer, in order of recommendation:
a. Headset
b. Headphones plus an external microphone or your computer’s built-in microphone
c. Other microphone/speaker combinations
Those hired will receive:
6. An AP account and email address and password
7. Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication App for your Android or iPhone mobile device
8. Install software for softphone software
9. Amazon Workspaces Software installed on your computer
10. A Slack account (requires AP email address to sign up)
The AP pays via direct deposit, so a W9 and ACH form will be required prior to receiving pay.
Review the requirements and, if still interested, send an email to KMorse_contractor@ap.org. Keith Morse will acknowledge your contact ASAP but will be holding all inquiries until the application deadline. The onboarding process for those accepted will begin as soon as possible.
*Application deadline: October 1, 2020
