Story Producer Intern - Platte Basin Timelapse (Lincoln, NE)

Platte Basin Timelapse (PBT) is currently looking for a new Story Producer Intern to join our team.

Since 2011, the Platte Basin Timelapse project has been telling stories using time-lapse and traditional photography to educate people about where their water comes from, and what it means to live in a watershed today. The PBT team creates innovative multimedia content to tell the myriad stories of the Platte: web-based journalism, combining art and research, STEM-based educational curriculum for middle and high school science students, and a documentary film for public television.

During the internship, the student will help PBT reimagine our story series titled "Voices of the Platte." Voices of the Platte looks closely at how water shapes our landscapes and lives in the Platte River Basin through the diverse voices of the people who live there. Over a year, or more, the student will complete a handful of Voices of the Platte stories and imagine new and exciting ways to tell and present those stories. This could include a film, an ESRI StoryMap, a robust photo essay with a written narrative, an audio narrative, etc.

The intern will be working mostly with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and DSLR/Mirrorless cameras, so prior knowledge of these tools is required. We will provide any additional training that may be needed through Adobe Creative Cloud and other storytelling applications.

The multi-semester internship is for undergraduate students attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, is paid, minimum wage and a minimum of 10 hours a week. Students in their last semester of school are not encouraged to apply.

We are looking for a student who is passionate about water, environmental conservation, educational outreach, and multimedia storytelling. Some of the qualities we will be looking for in a candidate include: excellent communication skills, self-motivated, eager and willing to learn, creative mind, accountable, and strong photography, videography, and writing skills.
